I Heart Faces: Sports and Pets

This week I got really lucky! We had a great day at the beach yesterday learning about Stand-up Paddling and Surfing with Na Kama Kai. This group of volunteers were great with the kids, very knowledgeable in their field, and full of the Aloha spirit. I was very impressed by the planning and attention to safety of the Keiki! Obviously I had to have my camera with me because what kind of mom would I be without chronicling such a great activity for the girls?

My Sports entry is my youngest daughter. I call it the birth of a monster! Why? Because she never wanted to be off the board after her first taste of surfing! LOL!

My Pet entry is this little dog that was playing with the kids on the beach and went surfing, too. He was a sweet little thing!

Fix – It Friday: Most Beautiful Gift

Today is Fix-It Friday over at I ♥ Faces. This is a cute picture they gave us to work with! Wonderful focus and an adorable little girl with BIG blue eyes!

My first version, I started with a Snap action from MCP Actions and reduced opacity to about 25%. Then I used Shadow bump action from On The Spot Studio set Heart and Soul. Then, A Touch of Color from MCP Actions, added a vignette and decided the shadows were still a bit too blue so used a selective color layer and reduced the cyans in the Reds, Whites, and Neutrals, added a little yellow in those, as well, and voila!

For version 2, I added an action that I like and am not sure where it came from, but it’s called Blue Pumpkin. It adds a slight vintage warmth to the picture.

For most of my BW conversions, I use MCP Take Action On Cancer and play with the different color layers. For this one, I added the black layer at the default for a little more depth in the shadows and the Peach layer at about 4% for slight warmth.

Wedding Bells – I Heart Faces

This week at I ♥ Faces we are hearing wedding bells! Luckily, I have shot one, count it, ONE wedding as a second shooter. I have about 5 favourite shots from this wedding but this is probably at the top of the list. I feel it shows the great love the bride (my friend) has for her sweet daughter.

Let’s hear it for the boys! (I Heart Faces)

This week, it’s all about the boys at I ♥ Faces. My kids entry is not my kid (I only have girls) but he’s a very good friend’s son. He is a sweet boy and full of wonder for the world around him.

Have you seen this man? He’s 6’3″, 220 lbs, and crazy as a loon! If you see him, do not startle him. Gently approach and calmly ask him if he is lost. If you can, lead him home. Thank you!

I Heart Faces Sepia Toned

This weeks theme is sepia tone. I had a hard time choosing because my favourite sepia toned pictures have already been submitted for other categories! Shame on me for not planning ahead! I have a hard time because I prefer sepia to be used in pictures to give them an old time feel, so the pictures subject should have an old time style, as well.
For my adult category, I chose this picture that I took over 4 years ago on a trip to Colonial Williamsburg. I love this picture and had never tried it in Sepia. I think it looks good this way!

My children’s category entry is just a close up shot of my younger daughter and one of her many silly faces.

I Heart Faces Silhouette

It’s time for another I ♥ Faces entry! This week is Silhouettes. I had a very hard time choosing because I love silhouettes! In the end, I chose this one of my daughter on her 3rd Birthday. To me, it looks like she is throwing open the gateway to the fairy world.

I ? Faces Blurb Contest

This week is a contest to get your picture in a Blurb Book of I ♥ Faces! I chose this one because it’s one of my favourite of my youngest daughter. It’s also the picture that convinced me that I love photography and to get a better camera! I had not decided yet to become a professional. This was with a Point and Shoot Fuji FinePix. I love her little pout and her big eyes. I don’t expect to win, but as it’s supposed to be our favourite faces pictures, here it is.

I Heart Faces Laughter

Yes, it’s time for another I ♥ Faces Entry! I can’t believe that I won Honorable Mention last week! It was my second week entering! Thank you so much, Jodi, Angie and Amy!

The theme this week is laughter. My first entry is for the kids category. These are my girls in an outtake during my impromptu session with them on Easter. They were cracking each other up and it was so much fun! I chose this one because I love how big sister is looking so lovingly at her little sister cracking up! What were they doing that was so funny? Licking each other. Yeah, my girls are weird! LOL!

For my Adults Category, I’m entering this from my first Maternity session. We were asking the boys where their belly button was and they showed us Mom’s belly button! I love the connection between the three here.
