One of the best things about digital photography, is that you can check the back of the camera and see, immediately, any mistakes you may have made. Thank goodness I did that with this one! With the first image, my lens was covered with sea spray from shooting on the beach just before. It DOES make for an interesting effect, but in my opinion, distracts from the silhouette which is the subject of the image NOT the flare.

However, the second image allows there to be a nice sharp flare while not distracting from the couple. So, make sure you chimp away AND keep your lens clean!
