My family and I went exploring the West Texas canyons and searching for the last vestiges of the Southern Buffalo Herd. Well, we found a few of them and this, unfortunately is the only picture I got of them.

This wonderful State Park just outside of Quitaque (Kitty-kay), TX is a great place to get away and go camping, horse back riding and hiking. Just stay at least 50 yards away from the Bison!

You can also see these amazing vistas!

This is the first time I've actually seen a Prickly Pear Cactus Rose! At least in as long as i can remember.

I got to go down in this Arroyo for a little while and explore. It was nice to see a little water actually running through it since this area has been so very dry over the past year or so.

It was amazing to find mica out in nature! Don't mind my geekness, but the only mica I had ever seen before had been in my rock collection that I got from my Dad when I was little!

More geekdome from me…I love seeing the different layers in the cliff walls.

Want to see me geek out even more? There were Bison tracks in the Arroyo! One single bison had walked through, taken a drink, and walked back! I didn't see it, which is either good or bad…depending on whether it would have charged me or not! I'd rather not find out.

I just love how the land responds to water and flourishes while it's around.

The flora is so different in a desert type ecosystem but it still has it's own beauty.
